In this talk, Lora O’Brien explores their significance in modern Irish society. Drawing on ancient Irish traditions, she highlights how witchcraft has historically helped women push against social norms, offering a path to empowerment and self-expression.
This talk is a call to reclaim personal and collective power through witchcraft, linking feminist values to Irish culture. Lora shares stories from Irish mythology and practical insights into modern witchcraft to demonstrate how these ancient practices can help tackle injustice and build resilience. She offers a fresh perspective on how the magic of the past can inspire activism today.

Speaker Bio
Lora O’Brien is a modern Draoí (practitioner of Irish magic) and has been a dedicated priest of the Irish Goddess Mórrígan since 2004. With over 30 years of experience exploring and teaching Irish spirituality, mythology, and witchcraft, Lora has authored seven books, including works on Irish history, folklore, and Pagan practice. Their eighth book, The Mórrígan: Ireland’s Goddess, will be published by Llewellyn in 2025. Lora regularly speaks at international events, including workshops and conferences in the US and Europe, sharing their knowledge of Irish spiritual traditions, witchcraft, and decolonisation.
